In addition to our web site we provide a detailed tourist folder in each cottage and we are happy to be asked for recommendations for local attractions and things to do - just tell us the sorts of things you are interested in and we can help. For many of our recommendations we have either been there ourselves of have had firm recommendations from  former guests. Lac du Guerledan is an artificial lake - created wen the valley was dammed to create hydroelectric power in the 1920s. In 2015 the lake was drained to allow upgrades to the dam and the hydroelectric systems allowing the normally flooded valley to be explored on foot. 

Previous to the dams construction it was possible to travel along the canal that had been created by Napolean. The canal runs from Nantes to Brest. When the dam was created there was a commitment to recreate the broken link in the canal using a series of locks, but when the ownership of the dam changed hands that commitment was lost and to date EDF has not created the promised connection. The canal is slowly being restored and there is now talk of a boat lift being installed with a start date of 2025!
